POOL DESIGN - SMALL INGROUND POOLS -SPOOLS

Picture
  • If you're limited on space you may want to consider a small pool or "SPOOL". This type of swimming pool is a hybrid between a pool and spa, a great alternative for some.
Although a spool can be built in any shape or size they typically measure anywhere between 10 to 16  feet long and 6 to 8 feet wide. A small pool is much smaller than other inground pools but larger than a traditional spa. Small pools are also appealing to those that lack the desire of a high-maintenance traditional pool and possibly looking for an option that is more cost and energy efficient. Spools can be used year round due to their small size. These small pools are built deep enough to cool off during the hot summer months but small enough so they can be turned into a spa during the cooler times of the year. It truly is the best of both worlds.

Spools are in a class of their own and can be designed using a geometric shape or freeform style. We can even incorporate a lagoon feel when building your spool, like a tiny oasis right in your backyard ready for you to enjoy anytime.

Unlike traditional pools, your small pool can be equipped with powerful jets that will create a strong enough current for you to swim against. That means you can use your spool to exercise during the morning, take a dip to cool off and escape the summer heat middy and then use it again at night as a spa to relax those sore muscles, all in one day!  The best part is that all of these benefits can be incorporated into your small space!

Benefits of a Small Swimming Pool (SPOOL)
  • Small or limited space - Don't require a lot of space. Even if you have the space for a large pool you may not want to designate that space to a large inground pool so a spool is a great alternative.
  • Cost efficiency - If your budget won't allow a large ingound swimming pool and a hot tub/spa, but you want to enjoy the benefits of both then a small pool (SPOOL) might be the right option for you.
  • Versatility- Think about the scenario we mentioned earlier, you can use the same small space for three different purposes (swimming, cooling off, and relaxation) all in one day! It can be used year-round in our Southern California climate.
  • Commitment- If you are not ready to invest in a large traditional pool a small pool is much less of a monetary and time commitment.
  • Maintenance- Because spools are smaller in size they are easier to maintain when compared to full-size inground swimming pools.
  • Water feature- When not in use a carefully designed spool will look like a high-end water feature, this is especially true if compliments your home's architecture.
